The 2023 Ford Super Duty has entered a phase where many online media have reviewed this phenomenal dashing 2023 F250. Mentioned By Ford USA Cars that Ford unveiled its redesigned 2023 Super Duty in September 2022, but isn’t ready to talk about the truck’s specifications just yet.
The numbers are out now, and they’re impressive: The Super Duty can tow up to 40,000 pounds, and its turbodiesel offers 1,200 pound-feet of torque.
Buyers will have four V8 engines to choose from. On the petrol-powered side of the range, options include a new 6.8-liter engine with 405 horsepower and 445 pound-feet of torque and a 7.3-liter engine updated to develop the 430 and 485 respectively.
Riders with something heavy to pull for sure would be interested in any available turbodiesel engines. The 6.7-liter Power Stroke develops 475 horsepower and 1,050 pound-feet of torque in its standard configuration, and the high-output versions increase those figures to 500 and 1,200 respectively.
The only transmission available is a 10-speed automatic, and buyers can choose from the rear- or four-wheel drive.
How many 2023 Super Duty quests can be pulled depends a lot on how it’s configured and what kind of obstacles are installed. Unlocking the 40,000-pound capacity (roughly 13 times the weight of the Subaru BRZ !) requires an F-450 and attaching a gooseneck hitch.
Alternatively, the F-350 can tow up to 38,000 pounds when equipped with the same hitch. Conventional towing capacity check-in at 30,000 pounds.
Drivers with something to haul won’t be disappointed either. The payload champion of the lineup is the F-350 XL with rear-wheel drive, dual rear wheels, regular cab, and optional Heavy Duty Payload Package. Its value is 8,000 pounds.
Ford also offers trucks with a long list of technological features that make towing and transport easy, including Trailer Navigation functionality, built-in generators, and Onboard Scales.
Drivetrain Evolution
On the mechanical front, the 2023 F-Series Super Duty benefits from a new standard drivetrain, featuring a 6.8-liter V8 gas engine running through a 10-speed automatic transmission. This is a notable displacement and gear count bump from the current Super Duty’s base drivetrain, which uses a 6.2-liter engine running through a 6-speed transmission. Much of this new engine’s architecture is based on the existing 7.3-liter V8 gasoline engine, and while specific horsepower and torque figures aren’t available Ford says it will provide more low-end torque and improved fuel efficiency.

The Super Duty’s existing engines, the 7.3-liter gasoline V8 and the 6.7-liter diesel V8, continue in the new 2023 model, with updated calibrations for improved performance. There’s also a new high-output 6.7-liter diesel V8 with turbo technology. This engine is targeting best-in-class horsepower and torque figures. Other mechanical improvements include upgraded brake calipers and rotors for improved stopping. Much of the technology is what you’d expect in a modern truck staying competitive in 2023. This includes the aforementioned adaptive cruise control, which includes low-speed stop-and-go speed management and lane centering to assist the driver with lane placement. A full-color head-up display, front and rear parking assist systems, and a 360-degree/blind spot camera system — for trailers — also seem par for course in today’s world.

Much of the new technology on the Super Duty focuses on trailer towing, including onboard scales monitoring trailer tongue weight and providing real-time feedback via its 8- or 12-inch display screens in the cabin, or through an innovative metering system within the truck’s taillights. Ford’s trailer hitch assist system can automatically align and reverse the truck when hooking up a trailer, while a new camera mounted on the top of the tailgate allows for improved rear visibility, even when the tailgate is down.
