The New, Improved R36 Nissan GT-R Is Finally Here In This Exclusive Render

Released around 1968, the first GT-R model hardly looks like the titan we see before us, but the range has come a long way. The R34 Nissan Skyline GT-R — is a myth and a legend, but Nissan turned up the dial on the Godzilla further for 2007 to make the R35 installment essentially a supercar with all-wheel-drive and a crazy-fast dual-clutch transmission.
Now, 16 years after, design, style, performance, and engineering have all moved on. However, the last-gen GT-R’s maximum 600 hp and 481 lb-ft of torque stat sheet still look impressive today.
If it came back for 2024 with a fresh design sheet, unlike the recently-unveiled R35, how would a new GT-R look? Well, look no further as the render offers a realistic guess.
Reimagining The Nissan GT-R For The Future

With its junior sports car – the Nissan Z – looking sharp and sporting 400 hp, it is high time the GT-R got a modern makeover. In the exclusive render, it returns with the fundamental design ethos of the current R35, albeit in a chunky, angular format.
Up front, the styling is reminiscent of the incumbent sports car, but the grille is huge. It extends down to the front lip and the headlights look awesome and a bit smaller. Perhaps the gaping mouth takes inspiration from the ‘Z’ car currently in production.
The body looks like the current GT-R but undergoes a thicker and more angular transformation. We like the vents on the front wheel arches especially, but the drama ramps up considerably in the rear.
Around the back, the lights are LEDs, in the familiar format with a large rear section that reminds of the current GT-R. However, it looks angular, sliced-off even, with quad exhausts suggesting this is in fact a gasoline-powered beast. Let’s hope that if and when the Japanese brand does unveil the next Nissan GT-R R36, it gives enthusiasts both an engine and design worthy of the legendary JDM sports car.
There Is A Nissan GT-R R36 Coming: We Await Official Details

As we have seen there are rumors suggesting that the GT-R will be coming back for another round as a fully-electric model, a car which might carry the Nissan R36 GT-R nameplate, although no official information has yet gotten released.
Forbes released this article outlining the likelihood of an electric, 1000+ hp supercar-slayer coming from Nissan, and we hope it’s true.
It’s not unlikely that the next GT-R will be electric, as most other iconic nameplates are either going to be hybrids, fully-electric, or getting discontinued soon to pave the way for new models.
In a hypothetical world where the R36 comes next year with a gasoline engine, we would hope for more of the same with the turbocharged V6 which has been its staple for all of these years.
Nowadays, while we wait for the news, you could look into getting one of the past-model Skyline GT-Rs if you’re not quite taken with the styling of the current GT-R.
The most acclaimed of the Skyline GT-Rs — the R34 — will soon finally be able to import to the US under the 25-year rule, and will likely rise in value as more people try to find examples.
According to Classic.com, the GT-R R34 has an average value of around $200,000 with the highest auction values of $525,000 and the lowest at $76,000; so they aren’t exactly cheap and are likely to only become more sought-after,
